Assert
2018
Acryla-Gouache, Collage
Reflecting on my progression from a soft-spoken to a more expressive and assertive person through my high school years, I employed the concept of "zipping one's lips" to create an illustration in a graphic style. The act of breaking the zipper represents the liberation of my opinions and true identity encased in my brain, which was previously restrained by the zipper. The collaged text in the background, censored and uncensored, represent these subjects of assertion.
