o Tearful me

In response to the prompt: Black.
Black is a depressing color, one that is associated with intensity and drama. I wanted to represent the tendency for people to overdramatize their emotions and experiences to receive attention, with the calculated use of this color. Black comes in the bold, high-contrast form of the primary figure. Its surface-level tear-eyed gesture along with the simple act of dropping ink represents superficially publicized emotion. When ink reaches a landing point, it meets water, pure and without emotion, and polluted with the introduction of black. Water represents the reality of most dramatized situations-- it reminds us of our privilege and ultimately dilutes our supposed “depression.”
